Nicole Simms “Velvet Voice”
One of Southland’s latest female singing sensations, Nicole Simms was born in Los Angeles, California. She developed her love for music at a very early age while listening to Phyllis Hyman, Teddy Pendergrass, Donny Hathaway and Anita Baker with her parents. Today, Nicole’s singing style is compared to the likes of Jill Scott and Ledisi.
During Nicole’s younger years, she took part in her school’s music groups/organizations, church choir and many other venues where she endeavored to sing. She finally decided to follow her passion and love for music and chose singing as her career mission. Today, Ms. Simms is making her presence felt as a prominently ranked singer in the Southland, performing at top venues and events world-wide.
She has worked with nationally known singers, musicians and entertainers in the musical arts industry. Nicole, known to her audience as “The Velvet Voice”, is a multi-talented vocalist whose style of singing could be considered as a fusion of Neo-Soul, Jazz and R & B. Nicole recently opened a sold out event for award winner and legendary saxophonist, Ronnie Laws where she left the crowd begging for more.
Nicole “The Velvet Voice”, has received numerous singing projects to perform nationally with her unique four-octave vocal range and ability to capture listeners from all over the world.
